Ages Considered through Nabakooza Sherifa—Program Assistant attended a two-day capacity building training for renewable energy CSO network (RECSO Network) members in budget tracking and monitoring at both local and national level.

Environment Alert (EA) is implementing a project titled ‘Increasing access to sustainable and renewable energy alternatives in the Albertine Graben’ that aims at communities adopting sustainable renewable energy alternatives to reduce dependency on biomass for their energy needs. The project is being implemented in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature – Uganda Country Office (WWF-UCO) with financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). One of the project outcomes is ‘Project CSOs have capacity to engage government and private sector on adoption of policies, legislation and best practices for sustainable and renewable energy access.

The following key areas were covered:

  1. Budget analysis and the National link for quick tressing
  2. Resource allocation transparency and accountability is a big problem and needs focus
  3. Budgeting cycle and budget tracking
  4. Power to influence (as a network)
  5. Use the local government to influence to get something big
  6. The private sector is low funded and needs for more advocacy
  7. Need for Action planning
